Fuse Glass Jewelry,
Precious Metal Clay & Decorate Ceramics
in a Microwave
Oven Container Kiln!

The interior of a microwave kiln - MicroKiln - has a black
compound lining inside the wall of the cover. The black material absorbs the
microwave radiation and heats up to approximately 1650 F (900 C), thereby
heating the chamber to a temperature very quickly.
You can fuse glass jewelry pendants, earrings, and pins
in it within minutes. You can fire precious metal clays and decorate ceramics,
too.
The pendant shown below was made of Bullseye
fusible glass and dichroic glass; it was fully fused in five minutes. The bail
was affixed after firing. The second picture is a
size comparison between small and medium Microkilns (the pendants measure one
square inch).
| SMALL MICROKILN: Firing chamber is 2-3/4" in diameter by 1 3/4" high (Exterior
dimensions are 4.5" diameter by 3.375" high). This is a perfect
size for making pendants and small jewelry. Four 2"x2" pieces of Bullseye shelf
paper are included. Microwave oven is not included. |
| MEDIUM MICROKILN: Firing chamber is 4 1/2" in diameter by 1 3/4" high.
Outside measurements are approximately 6 1/2" x 3 1/4"
high (which is 16.5 cm x 8.25 cm) This is a perfect size for a pair of earrings or larger projects. Four 2"x2" pieces of Bullseye
shelf paper are included. Microwave oven is not included. |
| NOTICE: Some microwave kiln brands don't state a size, but you
can bet they're small. Check the measurements! A popular
new brand of microwave kiln does not state a size but it
is SMALL. Another brand which comes in a little kit has
a small size microwave kiln. Small
microwave
kilns are great if that's what you want, but check the
measurements so you will know what you're getting! |
